PBC microbiome

Although the relationship between chronic liver disease and gut microbiome should be attractive enough for paying some definite attention, the analysis of gut microbiome in patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) has been insufficient so far. Then, the reactivity to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) could predict the long-term prognosis of patients with PBC, whereas little is known about the significance of gut microbiome in patients with PBC. The aim of this comparative study is to demonstrate the relations between biochemical reactivity to UDCA and the composition of gut microbiota in Japanese patients with PBC.
