Bovine rumen metatranscriptome. bovine gut metagenome

Rumen microbiome play a crucial role in feed degradation in ruminant livestock. Characterizing active rumen microbes in more detail will enhance our understanding of their roles in rumen function. We hypothesize that metatranscriptome can be used to identify active rumen bacteria and archaea, avoiding potential biases introduced by PCR-amplification of targeted genes (eg. 16S rRNA genes) prior to sequencing. This project aims to develop a pipeline to process and study the active rumen bacteria and archaea using metatranscriptome.
