This set of CD-ROMs contains global ocean temperature and salinity profiles derived from NODC archive data files. It includes oceanographic station (bottle) data, CTD/STD data, and mechanical and expendable bathythermograph data. The data span the period from 1900 to 1990. Disc 1 contains 1.62 million profiles from the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Disc 2 contains 1.57 million profiles from the Pacific Ocean. The data are in an ASCII format.
Data access and display software developed by NODC for these discs is obsolete, does not function on modern PC operating systems, and is no longer available from NODC.
Copies of these discs are no longer available via the NODC Online Store. More recent ocean temperature and salinity profile data (including data on these discs) are available on NODC World Ocean Database online, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM products.
