资源简介:
Janefield Colony was opened in October 1937. Its proclamation as a centre catering for mentally deficient children was published in the Victoria Government Gazette on 27 October 1937. The function of the agency was to provide accommodation and educational instruction for mentally disabled children, particularly "severely disabled" children. This volume is a Nominal Register of Residents at Janefield Colony and, later, Janefield Training Centre. The Nominal Register records the names of residents at the Colony for the period in which they were resident. In October 1962 Janefield was proclaimed a Training Centre under the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1959 (No. 6605). The register includes the details of residents who had previously been at the Colony and continued at the Training Centre. The register records the full name of the resident, date of birth, date of admission, Janefield ward number, details of transfer to another institution, and details of death or discharge. The final year for admissions is 1968. Janefield closed in 1996 with residents being moved to other institutions. The Nominal Register can be used as a means of establishing the date of admission of a patient, and hence locating patient information in:Register of Voluntary Boarders, Janefield Colony (vprs 18166)Register of Residents (Janefield Training Centre) (vprs 18171)Discharge Register, Janefield Colony (vprs 18172)Register of Special Non-certified Residents (vprs 18170)Register of Residents: Special Cases (Janefield Training Centre) (vprs 18183)Reference: AS/09/518-02
