Processed data supporting "Long-term wind variation diminishes bay-shelf exchange: from a regional to a global perspective"

This dataset contains processed data supporting the manuscript “Long-term wind variation diminishes bay-shelf exchange: from a regional to a global perspective”. It includes seasonal wind indicators and bay residence-time time series for Laizhou Bay from 1960 to 2019, results from wind-speed and wind-direction sensitivity experiments, global trends in Monsoon Vector Projection Anomaly (MVPA) and Cumulative Wind Direction Variation (CDV), correlations between MVPA and GLORYS12V1 depth-averaged current speed, potential hydrodynamic hazard-zone masks, and source data underlying the main and supplementary figures and tables. Hourly ERA5 data used for the Laizhou Bay analysis, ERA5 post-processed daily statistics used for the global analysis, GLORYS12V1 ocean-current data, and Copernicus Marine biogeochemical data are not redistributed in this repository and can be obtained from their respective official data services. Complete raw FVCOM outputs are not included owing to their large file size. MATLAB scripts used for calculating the wind indicators, long-term trends and potential hazard zones are also included.
