The Interurban and Rural Bus Transport industry’s revenue has recovered over the past five years off of a low base year in 2019-20 when the COVID-19 outbreak was starting to affect the industry. State and international border closures and lockdowns limited industry revenue over much of the period, but the industry has recovered strongly as tourist numbers have surged since 2021-22 and state borders have reopened.
