Diet Fermentation Leads to Microbial Adaptation in Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens; Linnaeus, 1758) Larvae Reared on Palm Oil Side Streams

Here, we investigate the bacterial and fungal community composition in the guts of black soldier fly larvae (BSFL, Hermetia illucens; Linnaeus, 1758) reared on palm oil side streams by Illumina high throughput sequencing of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene and fungal internal transcribed spacer (ITS). Primers U341F and U806R were used to amplify variable region V3 to V4 of the 16S rRNA gene. Primers fITS7 and ITS4 were used to amplify fungal ITS2 region.
