Presence of emerging organic micropollutants in aquatic ecosystems is of concern. Natural attenuation of these pollutants by the indigenous microbial community in rivers is under active investigation. We determined the biodegradation potential of one such micropollutant and characterised the composition and diversity of active indigenous resident bacterial community expected to degrade it.
