Average PM2.5 concentration in Germany 2023, by select city

Amongst Germany's most populated cities, the capital Berlin had the highest average PM2.5 concentration in 2023, at 10.5 micrograms per cubic meter of air (μg/m³). Hamburg – Germany's second-largest city – had an average PM2.5 concentration of 8.6 μg/m³ that same year. These levels exceeded World Health Organization PM2.5 guidelines by roughly two times.
