Pangasius nasutus isolate:IKP018 Genome sequencing and assembly

Pangasius nasutus is a growing aquaculture species in Peninsular Malaysia and holds commercial importance within the Pangasiidae family. The wild supplies of this family have been significantly depleted due to overfishing, and the number and diversity of aquacultured species remains limited. Here, we present the development of a draft genome of a wild P. nasutus through the utilisation of a whole-genome sequencing approach. Here we report the first draft genome for P. nasutus using the Illumina and PacBio sequencing platforms. The draft genome could serve as a basis for future research on the biology and evolution of P. nasutus, which would be a useful asset for conservation and breeding programmes.
