Antibiotic resistome of the bee gut microbiota . gut metagenome

The antibiotic resistome of the gut microbiota of honeybees and bumblebees. A pooled sample of workers bee guts from different locations were collected. The broad purpose of this project is to understand the functional capabilities of these bacterial species and to determine how they affect their hosts. This specific sub-project is on antibiotic resistance in these symbionts and includes a variety of sequences. The sequences are derived from Fosmid inserts and PCR products using specific primers. The study also drew on several scaffolds from the metagenomic sequence data set.
