Exploring the automated MX data collection capabilities at the ESRF

Diamond Light Source will undergo a major upgrade of its machine and beamlines (the Diamond II upgrade) with a dark period for the beamlines of 18 months starting in December 2027. The Diamond MX group are exploring options to support MX experiments through this period of unavailability and wish to perform preliminary experiments at the ESRF to understand current capabilities for data collections at ID23-1 at the ESRF. This will inform longer term possibilities for Diamond MX experiments through the Diamond upgrade dark period, enable us to provide informed advice to our user community on options outside of Diamond and provide a focal point for knowledge exchange between ESRF and Diamond on MX data collection methodologies.
