Molecular characterization of multidrug-resistant E. coli isolated from wastewater samples of Chattogram city. Escherichia coli

Multidrug resistance has become a crucial problem in recent world. E. coli are Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria of coliform group which have been found to be resistant to three or more major classes of antibiotics hence multidrug resistant. In this project, wastewater samples were collected from the different locations of Chattogram city of Bangladesh and multidrug resistant E. coli were isolated. The genome sequencing of multidrug resistant E. coli will provide us valuable information on genome organization, evolutionary divergence, conservation and overall endemic diversity. The aim of this project is to identify resistant genes related to antibiotic resistance that will help us to know the molecular mechanisms of multidrug resistance.
