Radiocarbon data of planktic foraminifera in sediment cores collected from the Semenov Hydrothermal Field region of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge during the RRS James Cook cruise JC224 (March - April 2022)

Sub-samples from sediment cores collected from the Semenov Hydrothermal Field region of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge during the RRS James Cook cruise JC224 (March - April 2022) were taken for geochronological analysis, specifically targeting planktic foraminifera, which were selected and prepared for radiocarbon dating. Sample preparation was conducted at the National Environmental Isotope Facility Radiocarbon Laboratory, Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre, UK, and radiocarbon measurements were performed using Accelerator Mass Spectrometry at the Keck Carbon Cycle AMS Facility, University of California, Irvine, USA. This dataset includes radiocarbon isotope data of planktic foraminifera within the JC224 sediment cores which can be used to constrain the ages of the sediments and construct age-depth models. The data were collected as part of a PhD project funded under NERC's Ultramafic-hosted mineral Resource Assessment (ULTRA) project, grant reference NE/S004068/1, and the sediment cores are currently stored at the BOSCORF for long-term preservation.
