Economies Of Space: Full Annotated Dataset This repository provides access to the full annotated Economies of Space dataset, presented in BeNASch-XML-format. Please find further information about the enrichment process in the provided documentation. Context This dataset features over 75'000 register cards from the Historical Land Records of Basel, from the years 1400-1700. The register cards feature information about a number of events surrounding properties in the old city of Basel, such as property purchases, rent payments and legal proceedings. You may find more information about the context in our article about the manually annotated dataset. Form This dataset is split into one file per identified street in the old city of Basel. This keeps most of the XML-files to a size that can be opened, properly highlighted and edited in common editors such as VSCode. Acknowledgments Calculations to annotate this dataset were performed on UBELIX (https://www.id.unibe.ch/hpc), the HPC cluster at the University of Bern. Release v0.3.0 Issues Fixed The bug during the processing pipeline which misordered sometimes multi-page elements was found and all documents have been processed again. A bug causing multiple streets to get lost during processing was identified and solved. The dataset now contains about 200 new documents. Some fixes to monetary values during HTR, and the normalization of those values that were done manually during an experiment a while ago have been integrated into the new dataset. For transparency, old values have been kept where they differed from the new ones, and two attributes status="corrected" resp="#human_editor" have been added to modified spans. Please note the modification only appears in the span element, the text in the token elements as well as role elements which refer to the span element still show the old text.
