Assessment of mechanisms regulating reef-spawned walleye recruitment in the western basin of Lake Erie

Walleye Stizostedion vitreum year-class strength in Lake Erie exhibits high interannual variability. Variation in egg and larval walleye abundance, growth, and survival has been suspected to be a principal source of walleye recruitment variability in Lake Erie. We sampled reef-spawned walleye eggs and larvae in western Lake Erie in 1994-96 to examine their abundance, distribution, diet, growth, and survival. Grant no. NA36F10363
