Photograph of a picker cutting an orange stem, ca.1910. Two gloved hands reach from the left with one holding the dark orange and the other cutting its stem with rounded clippers. The leaves of the orange tree form the backdrop. Caption reads: "The pickers wear gloves to avoid scratching the fruit. With their patent clippers, the pickers snip off the orange stem close to the fruit, leaving a 'button'. The clipper blades are rounded off so they cannot damage the skin."
