This study develops the Elderly Health Status at State Level (EHSAS) Index to assess and compare elderly health across Indian states through a secondary data analysis of the Longitudinal Ageing Survey of India – Wave I data. The index incorporates 32 indicators across seven health domains and is computed using an equal-weight method and a principal component analysis (PCA)-weighted method. The uploaded Excel file (Table S1) gives the the number of participants who reported for each indicator and the corresponding number of missing values at state level.
