A Qualitative Study of Perceived Acute Health Effects of a New Urban Community Garden

The purpose of this study was to qualitatively identify the public health benefits of community garden participation from the perspective of the participants themselves following their first growing season. Following a qualitative design, a total of nineteen participants were interviewed including garden members and other local residents who have had direct personal contact with the garden space (e.g., neighbors living adjacent to the new space). Participants were given the option of sharing in a Spanish or English language interview.
