Dental complications from sublingual buprenorphine treatment: A qualitative study

This qualitative study explores the oral health experiences of individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) who are treated with sublingual buprenorphine, a common medication for OUD. Prompted by FDA warnings about dental issues linked to this treatment, the study aims to understand barriers and facilitators to dental care through interviews with three groups: individuals with OUD, addiction treatment providers, and dentists. Findings will help inform strategies to improve oral health care access and coordination for this population.
