Dominance of toxigenic C. difficile and emergence of ribotype 955 in Silesian hospitals

Multiplex PCR revealed all toxin genes (A&#43;B&#43;CDT&#43;) in 97 isolates. Ribotype 027 remained dominant (60%), while six isolates (6%) represented the emerging ribotype 955, first detected in Poland in 2023. All strains were susceptible to vancomycin, and 4% showed metronidazole resistance. The persistence of RT027 and appearance of RT955, related to a UK epidemic lineage, underscore the importance of continued surveillance in this region.</span></p>
