Adult Tree Density in Saywell Woods

The location in which the study was conducted was Saywell woods at York University. The temperature was around 20 degrees Celsius and sunny with a few clouds. We collected data by lying the transect measuring tape from the edge of the woodlot to the centre. Following along the transect anytime an adult tree was met, its diameter was taken and the nearest adult tree's distance was calculated in centimeters. The nearest trees were on either side of first tree and not along the transect like the first. Once the distance from the first adult tree to the second was calculated, the second trees’ diameter was taken in centimetres. The trees that were considered adult trees where the trees that were twice our height. After the distance between each tree and their respective diameters were recorded, the first tree's appearance was used to categorize it's condition. The trees’ condition was ranked on a scale from 0-2, 0= dead, 1= living, 2= huge green canopy.
