EQUIVALENCE CHALLENGES IN TRANSLATING ENGLISH IDIOMS INTO UZBEK
收藏资源简介:
This article provides an in-depth contrastive analysis of the semantic, structural, and pragmatic challenges encountered when establishing equivalence during the translation of English idioms into Uzbek. Drawing on contemporary translation frameworks, the study examines the cognitive mechanisms underlying idiomatic shifts and identifies systemic asymmetries between Germanic and Turkic phraseological systems. By analyzing corpus-based linguistic evidence, the paper evaluates the operational boundaries of absolute equivalence, functional analogy, and paraphrase strategies. The findings reveal that semiotic and cultural lacunae present the most significant barriers to communicative adequacy, requiring complex semantic transformations to preserve the pragmatic effect of the source text.
