Probing the noncollinear magnetic order correlating with electronic band structure in unexplored RMn2Ge2 (R=La, Tm)

The concomitance occurrence of magnetism, spin-orbit coupling, and topological properties in quantum materials is relatively rare. Our experimental results suggest that RMn2Ge2 (R=La, Tm) system exhibits unsaturated magnetization, noncollinear ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic interactions which can be correlated to spin-orbital coupling, pd hybridization, ferromagnetic nodal line, as well as band crossings as proposed by our density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The in-depth study of magnetic ground state via XAS-XMCD and orbital ordering via XLD will provide a possible correlation with electronic band structure which are not explored till now in unexplored RMn2Ge2 based room temperature topological ferromagnetic system.
