In 2019, about 30 million people in Italy travelled to work daily for work or study purposes. About 5.6 million residents of Lombardy commuted daily, of which 1.7 million were students and 3.9 million were workers.In Italy, commuters using public transportation were mostly students. Overall, tram and buses were the most common means of public transportation among daily commuters.
