资源简介:
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) surveys were conducted at Kilbourne Hole within the Potrillo Volcanic Field in southern New Mexico, USA in November of 2021 and April of 2023. These surveys collected GPR data using variable antenna frequencies and survey methodologies around this volcanic feature. The main focus of this data collection was on the layering and stratigraphy of the volcanic deposits from the eruption of this maar. Surveys were conducted at five main sites around the crater: the north rim, the east rim, the SE rim, the south rim, and the SW rim. The geology across these sites displays slightly different geologic deposits associated with the volcanism that occurred at this location, where the east rim possesses very thick ash deposits, the SE corner displays an evolution from the exposed basalt at the rim to increasingly thick ash deposits that subsequently thin outward, the south rim's surge bed deposits, and the SW corner's distinct lack of exposed underlying basalt flows. The survey types conducted include Common-Offset, Common-Midpoint (CMP), and Multi Offset surveys using 900 MHz, 400 MHz, and 200 MHz GSSI GPR antennas.
