资源简介:
In this study, the collection mapping method, which aims to systematically evaluate the efficiency and adequacy of Özyeğin University Library's collection, is examined in depth. Collection mapping has revealed to what extent the library's collection align with specific academic programs and changing user profiles. In recent years, user profiles in university libraries have undergone significant changes. Factors such as the rise of Generation Z that was born into the digital age increasing interest in interdisciplinary studies as well as the widespread use of distance education, have created an urgent need for libraries to respond quickly and effectively to the changing demands of new-generation users. This study aims to address this need while at the same time increasing the visibility of the collection. The Library of Congress Classification System is taken as the primary authority for analysis during the collection mapping process. All classification numbers from A to Z were carefully scanned using the LC Classification Search, and relevant classification numbers were identified accordingly. Additionally, based on the faculties of Özyeğin University, the scope, currency, and subject distribution were analysed, and strengths and areas for improvement were identified. The scope of the collection was limited to printed books and e-books accessed through the ownership model. Evidence-based quantitative findings are presented in this study to improve the collection in subject areas that align with the course content in the faculties, thereby addressing user needs and meeting academic expectations. The research findings aim to enhance library collection development strategies and decision-making processes. In this context, the study seeks to serve as a model for sustainable and user-centered collection management practices in university libraries.
