孢子花粉分析这门学科, 在我国已有好几年的历史, 并且已握取得了一定的成果, 但基础仍不巩固, 原因之一就是未能足够重视已知(经动物化石或植物化石鉴定的)地层中的孢粉粗合的研究。因此, 标准未能很快建立起来, 从而使地层对此发生一定的困难。1958年, 笔者到山东工作时, 曾在华北石油普查大队彭世福同志的帮助下了解了一些中新生代地层。笔者当时特别注意到临胸的山旺层。山旺层的植物化石早由胡先啸和鹭耐(w.Chaeny)教授研究过, 其时代已确切无疑, 为我国北部中新世一上部的标准地层。分析研究其中的孢粉粗合, 便会得到标准的孢粉粗合, 从而能为地层对比打下一些基础。笔者系兢地采集了山旺层的孢粉样品。同时也采集了一些植物化石。样品是按照格里丘克的分离法分析的, 重液用n八一6。一共分析了15块样品, 仅在矽藻土的样品(最.上部一块除外)中分析出了多量的花粉, 其他10块均未见孢子花粉。笔者当时甚为疑惑, 又从10块中选出三块再作分析, 但结果仍未见孢子花粉

The discipline of spore-pollen analysis has been established in China for several years and has yielded certain research outcomes, yet its foundational framework remains unstable. One of the contributing factors is the insufficient attention paid to the study of spore-pollen assemblages in strata whose age has been validated through animal or plant fossil identification. Consequently, standard spore-pollen assemblages have not been rapidly established, leading to notable difficulties in stratigraphic correlation. In 1958, during the author's work in Shandong Province, with the assistance of Comrade Peng Shifu from the North China Petroleum Prospecting Brigade, the author gained familiarity with several Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata. At that time, the author paid particular attention to the Shanwang Formation in Linqu. The plant fossils of the Shanwang Formation were previously investigated by Professors Hu Xianxu and W. Chaeny, and its age is definitively confirmed as the standard Upper Miocene stratum in northern China. Analyzing the spore-pollen assemblages within this formation would produce standard spore-pollen assemblages, thereby laying a solid foundation for stratigraphic correlation. The author meticulously collected spore-pollen samples from the Shanwang Formation, alongside some plant fossils. All samples were analyzed using the separation method developed by Grichuk, with n-86 serving as the heavy fluid. A total of 15 samples were processed for analysis. Abundant pollen grains were only detected in the diatomaceous earth samples (excluding the uppermost one), while no spores or pollen were found in the remaining 10 samples. At the time, the author was considerably puzzled, so three samples were selected from the remaining 10 for re-analysis; however, no spores or pollen were detected in the subsequent results.
