Desmodium gangeticum (L.) DC. (Family: Fabaceae) commonly known as salparni is found throughout most part of India and Himalayas. Molecular characterization of Desmodium gangeticum has been done to a limited extent. The various biological activities of the plant make it an integral ingredients in major drug formulations. It has been investigated as an anti-inflammatory, for preventing cell proliferation, and for encouraging liver re-growth. However, the plant type is considered threatened as per Red data book and requires conservation. In the present study, we performed a de novo transcript profiling of root and shoot tissues of the plants to identify genetic networks associated with the production of major bioactive compounds
