Development of microsatellites from P. denticulata and their cross-species transferability

P. denticulata is marked as a type species of section Denticulata of the family Primulaceae and it is indicator of ecological health of a ecosystem. Molecular markers are a potential resource for evaluating the genetic variability and diversity of plant species. Analysing the genetic diversity of a species is important as it offers valuable insights for guiding species conservation and management strategies. To study genetic diversity, genome sequence of a species is the primary required information. We sequenced P. denticulata genome at 15X depth by using Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform in paired-end sequencing mode and generated the microsatellite markers for this species. This study will provide better resolution towards conservation strategies of this species and will provide an idea about adaptability of plant species towards changing climate.
