Yosemite National Park - Bear Canister Required Area Winter - Open Data

The areas within Yosemite National Park where food and other scented items must be stored in allowed bear-resistant food canisters while overnight backpacking during the winter. Potentially exempted areas may not need to use bear-resistant food canisters from December 15 to March 30 but dependent on snow conditions and designations by the Superintendent. In potentially exempted areas, visitors much be travelling on skis or snowshoes for the exemption to be valid.
