Mouse fecal microbiota Targeted loci

The goal of the current study is to reproduce and validate results from the surgical weight loss model, vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), in the context of a high-fat diet. To do this we fed male and female C57BL6/J mice a standard 60% high fat diet over the course of 9-10 weeks to induce an obese state. Feces were collected for microbiota analysis before assignment to one of the following groups: VSG surgical, Pair fed VSG Sham, and Ad libitum VSG Sham (n=24 males and n=24 females/group). At 8 weeks post-surgery feces were again collected for microbiota analysis along with other metabolic parameters. These results will be compared to those generated at the Vanderbilt Mouse Metabolic Phenotyping Center.
