Known active Public libraries located in Alaska communities, and their contact information. This data has been visualized in a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) format and is provided as a service in the DCRA Information Portal by the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development Division of Community and Regional Affairs (SOA DCCED DCRA), Research and Analysis section. For 2023 the list of libraries has been culled to the list of Alaskan Libraries that applied for Public Library Assistance (PLA) in Fiscal Year 2023 as published by the Alaska Department of State Libraries, Archives & Museums (SOA EED ASL). This list does not include University or State Libraries, private or commercial libraries or School Libraries unless those School Libraries also function as the local community library.
