Gut Microbiota in Rainbow Trout Under Heat Stress

The cold-water fish rainbow trout, an important aquaculture species, has been widely used as a model animal to characterize the physiological responses induced by heat stress. In recent years, with the rapid development of modern biotechnology, 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene sequences have become essential research tool for investigating the intestinal microbiota of organisms. To address this challenge, the present study performed two different treatments (heat treatment and supplementation with nano-Se under heat treatment) in the model organism rainbow trout. On the one hand, 16S rRNA sequencing analysis was used to visualize the dynamics of intestinal microbial communities. On the other hand, intestinalmorphology and permeability, oxidation status and immune factors were integrative analyzed to further explore the effects of nano-Se on the intestinal microbiome-mediated physiological response of heat-stressed rainbow trout. These results provide scientific guidance and new ideas toward managing heat stress and feed development of rainbow trout.
