A new epidemic clone of ETEC adult diarrhea cases in Shanghai is O:6(STh+CS21+mphA). For the first time an association was observed between Azithromycin resistance gene mphA and a serum group of ETEC. Multidimensional and multivariate analysis techniques based on epidemiology can help reveal the potential transmission rules of ETEC and achieve the purpose of accurate monitoring and early warning of outbreaks.
