Freshwater forcing time series for Experiment B of TIPMIP-OCEAN phase 1

This depository is providing the time series of the freshwater forcing from Experiment B for the Ocean domain of the Tipping Points Modelling Intercomparison Project (TIPMIP-OCEAN phase 1, Swingedouw et al. 2026). Those time series are mass balances for the Greenland ice sheet extracted from reconstruction from Schmidt et al. (2025) with time series of mass balance averaged for the whole Greenland ice sheet. This reconstruction is covering the period 1850-2024. The time series for the period 1920-2024 should be used in Experiment B as stated in Swingedouw et al. (2026). The whole set of data from Schmidt et al. (2025) can be found here: zenodo.org/records/17386710 fututre projections extracted from the ISMIP project (Goelzer et al. 2025). We consider here the most extreme member from this database gathering a number of ice sheet mass balance projections based on different models. The mass balance provided here are computed from climate model output using emission scenario SSP585 (file named mass_balance_PROTECTensemble_SSP585_Sv.nc) and SSP245 (file named mass_balance_PROTECTensemble_SSP245_Sv.nc) are considered within Experiment B (Swingedouw et al. 2026) This depository also contains the Python script necessary for reproducing Figure 3 from Swingedouw et al. (2026)
