各調査は日本国全土の下記の調査対象について実施した。
（1）農業事業体調査：農家、協業経営、会社等の全数調査
（2）農業集落調査：農業集落の全数調査
（3）林業事業体調査：農林業、林家および林家以外の山林保有者（団体を含む）の全数調査
（4）林業地域調査：旧市区町村の全数調査
The surveys were conducted across the entire territory of Japan on the following survey targets:
(1) Agricultural Business Entity Survey: A comprehensive survey of farmers, cooperative management, companies, and others.
(2) Agricultural Community Survey: A comprehensive survey of all agricultural communities.
(3) Forestry Business Entity Survey: A comprehensive survey of forestry businesses, forestry households, and forest owners other than forestry households (including groups).
(4) Forestry Area Survey: A comprehensive survey of all former cities, towns, and villages.
