Fire influences on above- and belowground carbon stocks in Siberian larch forests

We studied larch forests in two regions of Siberia spanning subarctic and Arctic zones: near Yakutsk (subarctic; 62.0621 °N, 129.7773 °E) and near Cherskiy (Arctic; 68.7471 °E, 161.3356 °E). At 9 fire scars in the Arctic study region and 4 fire scars in the subarctic study region, we sampled recently burned and adjacent unburned forest stands to estimate the impacts of wildfire on above- and belowground ecosystem carbon stocks. This data set uses field measurements made in 2018 and 2019 and archived elsewhere on the Arctic Data Center (https://arcticdata.io/catalog/view/doi%3A10.18739%2FA2XG9FB90) to derive the mass of carbon in fine woody debris, coarse woody debris, live shrubs, standing dead trees, live trees, and the soil organic layer.
