Dataset and code for article "Nitrous oxide dominates the long-term climate forcing of a large eutrophic sea"

This repository contains R script for modeling nitrous oxide emission and instantaneous radiative forcing, as well as the compiled dataset of water column nitrous oxide concentration, sediment-water nitrous oxide fluxes, water-air nitrous oxide fluxes, and assoicated envrionmental parameters collected in the Baltic Sea during sampling conducted from September 10 to October 3, 2023 aboard R/V Skagerak (University of Gothenburg). The script for emssion estimate and radiative forcing model in R (R_script_for_Cheung et al.txt) describes the code used for multiple linear regression model, analyses of monitoring data from the Baltic Sea, water-air N2O flux estimations, and instantaneous radiative forcing model. Auxiliary data for the modeling are included (MLR_data.csv; monitoring_data.csv; regional_seaice.csv; regional_u10.csv) The dataset (balticN2O_data.csv) includes empirical observations in the Baltic Sea across sub-basins of water column physiochemical characteristics and nitrous oxide concentrations and fluxes. Units and remarks of the dataset are found in balticN2O_metadata.csv. Thisdataset were used to generate figures in the article and to perform all statistical analyses.
