Application of Biochar with or without sodium azide for remediation

The study examines the role of biosolids-derived biochar in the remediation and ecotoxicity of heavily diesel-contaminated soil. It further examines the role of the autochthonous bacterial community in biochar-based remediation. To achieve this, sodium azide (NaN3) was added to a separate biochar treatment. This works provided evidence that suggests that the autochthonous bacterial community plays an important role in the biochar-based remediation of diesel-contaminated soil.
