资源简介:
The Holocene sediment centers on continental shelves recorded rich information that have great value for revealing the shelf sea environment, climate change and human activities. Different from most shelf seas, the Bohai Sea is a highly enclosed sea with unique geologic setting, which make it as an ideal place to study river sediment dispersion, transport and deposition on the shelf. However, it is still unclear whether there are depocenters in the Bohai Sea, and if there are, what factors control their formation and development. In this paper, we used these data to clarify the Holocene sediment centers and the sediment budget. we identified four large Holocene sediment centers on the Bohai Sea, which account for more than ~36% of the total amount of sediments. The formation and development of these Holocene sediment centers were controlled by tectonic movements and oceanic dynamics. The Holocene sediments on the Bohai Sea shelf mainly come from the surrounding rivers, especially from the Yellow River, and partially from the Bohai Strait area (~23%). The preliminary estimate shows that approximately half of the sediments dispersed from the estuaries were preserved on the Bohai Sea shelf, and the rest were transported to the Yellow Sea.
