SCIENTIFIC HERITAGE OF SCIENTISTS AND EDUCATORS OF CENTRAL ASIA OF THE 9TH-12TH CENTURIES IN RUSSIAN ORIENTAL STUDIES: MANUSCRIPTS, SOURCES, TRADITIONS

This article examines the study of the intellectual, cultural, and historical heritage of Central Asia in the 9th-12th centuries by Russian orientalists of the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. The article analyzes scholarly interest in the works of medieval scholars, historical and geographical works, manuscripts, epigraphic materials, literary heritage, and library collections. Particular attention is paid to the research and publication activities of V.R.Rosen, V.V.Bartold, I.N.Berezina, N.I.Veselovsky, I.Yu.Krachkovsky, V.L.Vyatkin, A.A.Semenov and other representatives of Russian oriental studies. The article reveals their contribution to the identification, translation, critical study, description, and introduction of Arabic, Persian, and Turkic written sources into scientific circulation, as well as to the formation of scholarly ideas about the historical development, statehood, culture, science, and social life of the peoples of Central Asia.
