VPRS 18009 Classification and Review Books

This series consists of the classification and review books from the following sections of Winlaton (VA 5093): Unknown section (possibly Karingal); Karingal; Goonyah; and the Leawarra Hostel.These are handwritten exercise books used by staff to record and review the arrangements/case programs for individual trainees. Girls were reviewed periodically by section staff, whenever it was felt that they needed it.Each page was divided into two columns. The name of the girl reviewed was written in the left hand column and notes and decisions about that trainee were recorded in the right hand column. The date of the review was also included in the right hand column.The volumes are divided into a double page column format with the following headings: date, time, trainee name, staff name, event (of misbehaviour), correction (administered), Senior Youth Officer (signature of), Chief Youth Officer (signature of).A typical example might be:Mary Smith [Goonyah]- Xmas Day leave 12 mid to 6 pm- Dad to collect and return- Staff to query depo-provera- Review 6.1.1981There are 2 volumes for the Karingal section from 1985-1990. The volume for the unnamed section dates from 1984 and could also be from Karingal.There are four volumes for the Leawarra section from 1987-1991.
