Mycobacterium obuense is a soil-living mycobacterium with the capacity to dechlorinate the insecticide methoxychlor. It is a fast-growing, mesophilic, motile, and pigmented mycobacterium. Furthermore, it has been found to stimulate the immune system to attack cancer cells and is being clinically evaluated in cancer immunotherapy.
