Chicago River and effluent disinfection experiment

We conducted lab-scale experiments in order to examine the potential effects of UV disinfection on the microbial community and activity in wastewater effluent as well as its impacts on the receiving riverine community. We focused on effluent from the Terrence J. O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant, Chicago, IL, (abbreviated O'Brien WWTP from here on) which discharges into the Chicago River system.
