The supernatural entities of the Christian Desert Literature

This dataset was created as part of the Elyonim veTachtonim Project (https://elyonimvetachtonim.project.uj.edu.pl/). Each database focuses on supernatural entities (e.g., angels, demons, beasts) found in Christian Desert Literature, which refers to the diverse collections of writings associated with the Desert Fathers, Mothers, and the early monastic movement. The text fragments analyzed in the database are described using specialized tags that mark formal features of the units (e.g., literary genre or language). The other groups of tags annotate the characteristic features of the entities, providing information about e.g., their abilities, knowledge, and relationships with humans, other entities, or animals
