Data & code for: Diversity in insect responses to landscape composition drives flower visitation across semi-natural grassland plants

This repository contains data and R-script files for the DrivenByPollinators project, using data from unmanipulated plots and pan traps collected in 2020 and 2021. The datasets are related to the article:

Structure

The "R" folder contains all necessary scripts for data preparation and analysis. The "Overview.R" script provides a summary of the datasets, scripts, and the recommended execution order. The scripts should be run within the R project "forZenodoData.Rproj", ensuring that no file paths need to be modified.

Dataset Overview

The following datasets are loaded in the data preparation scripts:

visits – is the visits and flower unit/mean size/cover data for visited plants.

flowers_agg – is the aggregated flower data.

WP1plots_landscvars – is the landscape variable data.

caughtflowervisitors – is the data on flower visitors caught in the field and identified in the museum.

flowercounts – is the complete flower data.

caughtpantrap – is the pan trap data.

Script Execution Order

Prepare flower visit data for analysis:'R/flowervisits_data_prep.R'

Analyze flower visit data by insect group and cluster:'R/analyses_1_visits.R'

Also generates clusters needed for species richness analysis in analyses_3_speciesrichness.R.

Prepare data on caught flower visitors (abundance and species richness):'R/caughtflowervisitors_data_prep.R'

Analyze abundance of caught individuals:'R/analyses_2_abundances.R' 

Analyze visitor species richness by cluster:'R/analyses_3_speciesrichness.R'

Prepare and filter pan trap data:'R/pantrap_data_prep.R'

Analyze visitor species richness from pan trap data:'R/analyses_4_pantrapspecpool.R'

Supplementary analyses:

Including honeybee visits: 'R/analyses_suppl_honeybee_visits.R' 

Of visits with different radii: 'R/analyses_suppl_visits_otherradii.R'

Generate network plot:'R/plot_InteractionNetworks.R'
