The use of transcriptomics has enabled the discovery of a vast array of tick molecules that influence tick feeding and contribute to the transmission of tick-borne diseases. The employment of deep sequencing techniques has played a crucial role in obtaining this valuable information, allowing for the exploration of disease vector biology in cases where reference genomes are lacking. Through the assembly and annotation of identified transcripts, as well as the characterization of transcriptomes and proteomes across different tick species, and the deposition of novel tick-derived sequences in the NCBI database, we have advanced our understanding of tick physiology and the biology of tick feeding. In this study, we present a more comprehensive analysis of the composition of the midgut in Rhipicephalus microplus, employing state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing methods.
