Description

This dataset contains historical, observational, reanalysis, and climate projection data processed to evaluate the implications of climate change on drought dynamics in the Ganale Dawa River Basin, Ethiopia.

The dataset is provided in CSV format for easy use in statistical, and machine learning applications. It includes:

Historical reanalysis and observation data (1982–2014)

Future climate projections (2015–2100) under SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5 scenarios

Derived drought indices – Standardized Soil Moisture Index (SSMI) and Standardized Runoff Index (SRI)

Multi-model ensemble (MME) outputs based on the 10 best-performing CMIP6 models

Data Organization

The dataset is organized into three main directories: historical, future, and metadata.

The historical folder contains baseline drought indices and climate variables for the period 1982–2014:

SSMI_1982_2014.csv: Standardized Soil Moisture Index (agricultural drought).

SRI_1982_2014.csv: Standardized Runoff Index (hydrological drought).

reanalysis_climate_vars.csv: Supporting reanalysis-based climate variables (e.g., precipitation, soil moisture, runoff).

The future folder includes drought projections for 2015–2100 under two CMIP6 scenarios:

SSP245:

SSMI_2015_2100.csv: Agricultural drought index under SSP2-4.5.

SRI_2015_2100.csv: Hydrological drought index under SSP2-4.5.

ensemble_climate_vars.csv: Ensemble mean of climate variables used for index computation.

SSP585:

SSMI_2015_2100.csv: Agricultural drought index under SSP5-8.5.

SRI_2015_2100.csv: Hydrological drought index under SSP5-8.5.

ensemble_climate_vars.csv: Ensemble mean of climate variables under SSP5-8.5.

The metadata folder contains a single file:

dataset_description.pdf, which provides documentation on data sources, processing methods, and file structure.

Each CSV file is structured with:

Column 1: Year

Column 2: Month

Columns 3–n: Variables (e.g., precipitation, temperature, runoff, SSMI, SRI)
