The unique Legionella longbeachae capsule favors intracellular replication and immune evasion

To study the gene expression of wild-type L. longbeachae and a mutant in the capsule transporter gene ctrC, we grew each strain to exponential, post-exponential or stationary phase and extracted RNA for RNAseq. Overall design: L. longbeachae wild-type and ?ctrC were grown in rich yeast medium (BYE) to reach exponential, post-exponential or stationary phase. RNA was isolated from quadruplicate samples and analyzed by RNAseq. Gene expression was compared for wild-type samples between exponential and post-exponential phase, and between wild-type and ?ctrC for exponential and post-exponential phase, respectively.
